It was reported that the agreement between the two clubs was worth up to £10 million, with £8 million paid up front and another £2 million owed in possible add-ons - a relatively cheap deal given FLW's Baggies fan pundit Callum Burgess predicted earlier in the year that the attacker may go for north of £20 million.

The 22-year-old came through the Baggies’ academy system, and proved himself as a top Championship talent during his time at The Hawthorns.

While he had been linked with a possible move to the Premier League with Everton, he instead made the switch to a Championship rival in Southampton.

Here, we use estimated figures from Capology to see how much Fellows is now being paid compared to his time at West Brom

Fellows made the switch to Southampton on 29 August, but was made to wait for his first appearance for the club until September 14 due to the international break.

The winger started against the Saints’ bitter rivals Portsmouth in a game that finished 0-0 at St. Mary’s, much to the frustration of both sets of supporters.

The 22-year-old’s contract with the Hampshire outfit runs until the summer of 2029, having agreed a four-year deal.

As part of that agreement, Fellows is estimated to be paid £30,000 per week, giving him a middle of the range salary with the Championship side.

Their highest estimated earner is currently Joe Aribo, with the Nigeria international currently receiving £70,000-a-week.

Other high profile salaries at Southampton include Adam Armstrong and Finn Azaz, who are estimated to be on deals worth £60,000 and £50,000 per week, respectively.

Azaz is another new signing at St Mary’s, having arrived late in the window from Middlesbrough in a move worth £15 million, according to reports.

A number of players are also earning £40,000 per week at Southampton, including Alex McCarthy, Cameron Archer, Ryan Fraser, Jack Stephens and Mads Rasmussen.

Meanwhile, the likes of Ronnie Edwards and Flynn Downes are also estimated to be on £30,000-a-week deals like Fellows.

Fellows broke into the West Brom squad as a teenager, making his league debut at the age of 18 as a substitute in a 1-0 win against Reading.

Following a loan spell with Crawley Town, he went on to cement his place as a key part of the side, which led to him making 45 appearances in the Championship last season.

However, he was not one of the higher paid players in the squad, with the youngster estimated to be earning £6,000 per week with the West Midlands outfit prior to his exit.

The highest paid player in Ryan Mason’s squad is currently Nat Phillips, with the defender agreeing a contract worth an estimated £40,000 per week following his summer move this year.

Fellows had two years remaining on his West Brom deal prior to his move to St. Mary’s, having most recently agreed an extension in January 2024.

At that stage in his career, the 22-year-old was still only a regular part of the squad, but was not getting consistent minutes, especially from the start.

In the time since then, he has gone on to become one of the most highly rated young players in the division.
