Hamburger SV are closing on the transfer of Danish international Albert Grønbæk from Stade Rennais. The 24-year-old winger has only featured six times for Genoa since joining the Serie A outfit on a loan deal in the summer.
Rennes paid €15 million to sign him from Bodø/Glimt, but he struggled for playing time at the Ligue 1 club. He’ll now have the chance to play in four of the top-five leagues in less than two seasons since he also had an unsuccessful loan spell with Southampton in the second half of the previous campaign.
Sky report the loan transfer will have an option to buy at the end of the season. Grønbæk believes his latest move will help him to play in the World Cup as Denmark are set to play the playoff round of the qualifiers in March. HSV suspended fellow winger Jean-Luc Dompé until further notice following a drunk-driving incident.
