Hugo Souza saved a second-half penalty as Corinthians beat Red Bull Bragantino 2-0 at Neo Química Arena on Thursday, taking him to 11 spot-kick saves for the club.
According to Meu Timao, that tally moves him joint third on the club list alongside Gylmar dos Santos Neves, trailing Ronaldo Giovanelli on 27 and Cássio, who leads with 32.
On a per-game basis, the numbers favour the current first-choice keeper. Hugo has reached 11 in 99 matches, a rate of 0.11 per game. Dida follows on 0.07 across 95 appearances, with Cássio and Ronaldo Giovanelli both at 0.04 and Gylmar at 0.02.
The save arrived 14 minutes into the second half with Corinthians already ahead, after a handball by Gustavo Henrique. Isidro Pitta went right from the spot, and Hugo matched him, pushing the ball away. It was his fourth penalty save against Red Bull Bragantino.
Hugo is one shy of 100 appearances in black and white. His 99 games have brought 49 wins, 26 draws and 24 defeats, with 92 goals conceded.
Corinthians next face São Bernardo at Primeiro de Maio on Sunday at 20:30, the final round of the Paulistão first phase.
