Fabian Hurzeler has confirmed that Solly March could be back in the matchday squad ahead of Brighton’s game against Brentford.

March has not played since April 2025 due to an ongoing knee injury.

The Albion boss said: “Solly might be in the squad. He trained fully with the squad and made a good impression so he could be an option tomorrow.

“We’ve been very patient. He’s been out for a long time. It’s about small steps, not two at once. Before his injury he was one of the best players in the Premier League. The goal is to get him back to that level.”

Hurzeler also provided an update on Yasin Ayari, who has been out since January with a shoulder injury. He said: “He’s not available for tomorrow but he will be back in training next week and should be available for our next game.”

James Milner could break the record for most Premier League appearances if he features against the Bees. Hurzeler said: “He will definitely be available tomorrow and be in the squad.”

The 32-year-old added: “He has achieved this longevity by being the best professional you can imagine. Two days ago I texted him at 5pm to ask for a chat the next day, five minutes later he was in front of my office because he was still at the training ground recovering and preparing.

“That’s outstanding. He’s not just playing, he’s playing well. Against Villa he was one of the best players on the pitch. He’s honest, loyal, direct. A pleasure to work with.”

Brighton have won just one of their last 13 Premier League matches, but Hurzeler insisted that his side are remaining positive despite the reality of their current position.

He said: “Yes we are seven points off relegation but we are also six points off Europe so it depends what kind of person you are.”

“If we get on a positive run, things can change quickly in this Premier League. It’s so tight. So we shouldn’t focus on Europe or relegation, we should focus on the next game. I’m a positive person. I’m not afraid of anything.”
