With Greg Taylor’s contract situation still unresolved, the Scottish defender isn’t the only one at Celtic Park who’s yet to be tied down to a new deal, with manager Brendan Rodgers’ deal set to expire at the end of next season…

When he arrived back in 2023, he signed a three-year deal and revealed that he intended to at least see that out regardless of what comes afterwards. There is no news on that front as of yet, but Chris Sutton has insisted he will be here next year and that he cannot see the Irishman departing Parkhead before then.

“I’ve not seen an unhappy Brendan Rodgers this season”

“I’ve not seen an unhappy Brendan Rodgers this season. The situation with Brendan Rodgers is this. He’s got another year on his contract, and after what happened last time, he’s not going to walk away from Celtic unless something extraordinary happens.

“We all know when he left for Leicester, there were a lot of unhappy Celtic fans. More to do with the timing of when he left, so I can’t see it happening. That’s not going to happen. If you ask me this question in a year, and Brendan’s contract is coming to the end, then maybe that’s one where I would have a different answer, but I would be really surprised if Brendan left Celtic this summer,” Sutton said, via Scottish Sun.

“He clearly wants to bring players in over the summer to try and hit the next level,” Chris Sutton

The man who helped Martin O’Neill’s team reach the 2003 UEFA Cup Final in Seville, reckons that Rodgers will want more reinforcements this summer to support his quest to make Celtic a household name in Europe once more.

The Bhoys made the knockout rounds in the new format, but were narrowly defeated by Bayern Munich in the end up. “Talking last week in his press conference, he clearly wants to bring players in over the summer to try and hit the next level,” Sutton said.

“This season’s Champions League was successful in terms of getting out of the group stage into the playoff round. and then they put up a really good performance against Bayern Munich and I think most of the Celtic support at the start of the season were looking at progress in Europe.

‘The league is won – I can’t see (the)Rangers pulling back a 42-goal swing’

“Once again they’ve dominated domestically. I mean people are saying the league isn’t won. I mean the league is won unless something really extraordinary happens, but I can’t see (the)Rangers pulling back a 42-goal swing at this stage of the season.”
