'I don't know' Robin Roefs plays down £50m Chelsea links | OneFootball

Robin Roefs has played down talk of a £50m move to Chelsea this summer, insisting he is ignoring speculation around his future.

Alan Nixon has claimed Chelsea are leading the race for Roefs and would need to meet a £50m valuation, while Football Insider has published similar reports.

"I don't know. I don't know what to make of it. I don't hear anything from it from my agents... I don't know," he told Sunderland Echo recently. "Obviously, it's a compliment, I think, if people write it about you... I'm really enjoying every single minute of it, so I'm not thinking of anything else."

Roefs joined from NEC Nijmegen last summer on a five-year deal and has since become first choice under Régis Le Bris. The head coach has called him key, stressing the value of strong defenders and a reliable goalkeeper in protecting the goal.

Some reports suggest he could consider a move if Chelsea qualify for the Champions League. International recognition with the Netherlands’ World Cup squad this summer could also increase his market value, though Sunderland are well protected by his long contract and status.
