Following PSG’s 2-0 win over Liverpool in Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final first leg, Ibrahima Konaté said he would welcome Premier League postponements to aid clubs still in Europe, according to L'Équipe.

Ligue 1 has pushed PSG v Lens from Saturday 11 April to 13 May to help PSG prepare for the return leg against Liverpool, a move that did not spark controversy in England.

Konaté said the tie remains open at Anfield, but stressed Liverpool must first be ready for Saturday’s 18:30 match against Fulham before turning attention back to PSG.

The France defender, capped 27 times, praised the LFP, noting it is the second season running such a postponement has been granted. He said he would like the same approach in the Premier League, while acknowledging the situations are different.

He added that he was happy for PSG in a way and felt Ligue 1 was helping them pursue something in the Champions League. He hoped the Premier League might do likewise in future, or even this season, for its Champions League clubs.
