Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi hopes his side can replicate a superb first-leg performance against Bayern Munich tomorrow.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia via FCInterNews, the 49-year-old revealed his expectations for this heavyweight clash.

Despite facing long odds, the Nerazzurri stunned the record-time Bundesliga champions in Munich last week.

Indeed, Lautaro Martinez and Davide Frattesi scored on either side of halftime to seal an all-important 2-1 win.

However, Inter cannot take anything for granted heading into the second-leg showdown at the San Siro.

For perspective, the Bavarians have won all four previous away games against the reigning Scudetto holders.

Yet, if there was a time for Inter to flip the script, it’s now.

Inzaghi’s charges are brimming with confidence after another routine Serie A win against Udinese last weekend.

Still, Inzaghi knows his team must work their socks off tomorrow to secure a berth in the Champions League semi-finals.

“We all know how important this match is,” Inzaghi stated. “And we shouldn’t focus on the result, but on the excellent performance from the first leg.

“We must repeat that in front of our fans. We’ll need a great game.

“It’ll be a game like the one in Munich, with moments where we’ll need to suffer and others where we’ll have the ball.

“We are up against a top team that will put us under pressure.”

Asked whether Inter exaggerated in post-Bayern celebrations, Inzaghi replied: “I already responded on Saturday after the Cagliari match.

“We celebrated normally with our fans, who were there in huge numbers.

“We know there’s still a second half to be played at our stadium.”

Inter are potentially 90 minutes away from locking down a semi-final spot for the second time in three years.

Therefore, Inzaghi expects his team to approach this game with the right mindset.
