Inter have sent a strong message to potential suitors as Marcus Thuram rediscovers top form, making any summer exit increasingly unlikely, despite links to Aston Villa and Newcastle.
The French forward has bounced back emphatically after a difficult spell in front of goal.
As reported in Italy, via FCInter1908, his recent performances have silenced doubts about his future at San Siro.
His numbers underline the resurgence.
Thuram has scored in Serie A against Roma and Cagliari, added a brace versus Como, and contributed assists along the way.
He is now up to 16 goals and seven assists this season, closing in on last year’s return of 18 goals and nine assists.
Reports note that “the scoring drought that lasted two months is now a distant memory,” while his connection with the club is described as being at “five-star level.”
Just as important is the contractual situation.
Indeed, at around €6 million per year.
His deal includes an €85 million release clause, but that is only active at the beginning of July.
Outside of that window, any interested club must negotiate directly with Inter.
That includes Premier League sides Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
Both of whom have shown interest, as well as clubs from the Saudi Pro League.
In short, Inter remain firmly in control. “The contract speaks clearly,” the report states, with the club holding the decisive power over any transfer.
Given Thuram’s renewed form and importance to the team, Inter are in no position – nor under any pressure – to accept cut-price offers for one of their key attacking players.
