Nathaniel Brown is not scheduled to be officially introduced until Wednesday. However, FC Bayern may have already revealed his jersey number online ahead of schedule.

Nathaniel Brown has arrived at FC Bayern. After the 23-year-old completed the mandatory fitness tests at Säbener Straße earlier this week, he took part in his first training session on Tuesday as part of the short training camp at Tegernsee. The official presentation of the national team player will take place on Wednesday.

That’s when the mystery surrounding his jersey number is expected to be revealed. But a curious detail has now surfaced online that appears to have beaten Bayern to the punch.

Clue in the official Bayern shop

As reported by BILD, a Google search for “Nene Brown Bayern jersey” yields a remarkable result. The entry reads: “Nathaniel Brown jersey – Number 11 in the FC Bayern Store.”

The link leads directly to the record champion’s official online store, under the “Shop by player” section. Currently, however, it’s not yet possible to order a personalized Brown jersey there. Instead, the message reads: “Unfortunately, there are currently no products available for Nathaniel Brown.” That’s likely to change after the summer signing is officially unveiled.

Whether the displayed number 11 is actually Brown’s new jersey number or merely a technical placeholder remains to be seen. If the information is confirmed, the left back would take over the number most recently worn by Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese player was on loan from Chelsea FC last season and returned to England this summer.

Throughout his career so far, Brown has played with various jersey numbers. At Eintracht Frankfurt, he wore number 21; at 1. FC Nürnberg, he played with numbers 27 and 35, among others. For the German national team, the 23-year-old most recently played with number 18 at the World Cup.

The mystery should finally be solved by Wednesday at the latest, when he is officially presented.
