Coventry City extended their lead at the top of the Championship after defeating Sheffield United
Coventry City increased their lead at the top of the Championship to four points with a 3-1 triumph over Sheffield United.
The Sky Blues have announced themselves as the second-tier’s standout package thus far, blowing opposition teams away with their ability to score goals with ease.
Frank Lampard’s side have netted a whopping 39 times during their first 14 league matches, which is by far the division’s highest total. Hull City are next behind them in the offensive rankings with 23, which showcases just how strong Coventry have been offensively when compared to the rest of the Championship.
The CBS Arena outfit now have five points back to Middlesbrough in third place, which means that they are already starting to build a crucial automatic promotion buffer.
Morale is high within the Sky Blues’ camp at this moment in time, with the players working together brilliantly to perform to their highest standard. This was highlighted in Coventry’s third goal of the contest, where Haji Wright selflessly gave up his opportunity to score to allow Brandon Thomas-Asante to tap the ball home.

The good mood around Coventry was encapsulated in a video put out via the club’s media channels after the contest, which saw Jack Rudoni and Matt Grimes debrief the match.
This wasn’t done in conventional fashion however, as the duo mockingly portrayed a sarcastic conversation, which featured Rudoni asking Grimes about the match whilst coming under attack for his outfit choice.
The Sky Blues’ faithful were delighted to see their players creating such a piece of good-humoured content and reacted accordingly in the comments.
“Dead pan….. amazing boyz Pusb,” commented one happy Coventry fan.
“At what point do these flip back to being serious,” questioned another supporter, mentioning the previous nature of the debriefs. “Don’t think it’s possible now!!!”
Rudoni has been out of action since late September through injury and some of the CBS Arena faithful voiced their hopes of a return in the near future.
“Would love to see Rudoni on the bench for Stoke,” stated one fan. “Don’t want him to come on but would love to see that he’s *able to be on grass.”
Like Grimes, some supporters also poked fun at Rudoni’s dress sense, comparing his shoes to those of a horse.
“Will he be running in the grand national next year?” joked a Coventry fan.

This humorous content wouldn’t be available to be produced if it wasn’t for Coventry’s strong outings on the pitch, which is the main source of joy for supporters of the club.
The Sky Blues look relentless in their pursuit of promotion and besides a shock defeat to Wrexham, have looked capable of victory in all of their Championship outings thus far.
As the season enters the hectic winter period, momentum is key as the matches come thick and fast.
