Aston Villa are reportedly preparing to open talks with Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho, but he is contemplating a move to another club.
Currently in the final six months of his United contract, it’s been all but confirmed that Sancho will part ways with United at the end of the season.
United retain the option to extend his stay by an additional 12 months, but it’s believed the club would prefer to cut their losses and save on the wages they’d pay him rather than bank on the likelihood of receiving a transfer fee from a possible sale.
Sancho joined Villa on loan last summer but he hasn’t pulled up any trees at Villa. The England international has made 25 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist.
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham are both keen on signing Sancho as a free agent. Napoli have also been previously credited with an interest in the forward.
Now, TEAMtalk have issued an update on his situation. The news outlet claims that Villa are eager to keep him, but Sancho is considering a return to Dortmund, where he made his name.
TEAMtalk say that a source told them, “Jadon’s people are seriously considering Dortmund. He made a huge impact there, and the club are keen to bring him back.”
The news outlet also writes, “Aston Villa have indicated their intention to open talks with his representatives over a permanent deal at Villa Park and with Unai Emery of the belief that the transfer should be looked at closely, given how impressed he’s been with the England international and having judged his impact on more than just the solitary goal and assist he has provided, thus far.”
Interestingly, the report further points out that more than one Italian club is keeping tabs on Sancho.
In addition to Napoli, AC Milan and Atalanta have also emerged as “potential landing spots” for the 25-year-old.
It’s therefore far from certain where he will end up, but it does appear he is not short of suitors.
Meanwhile, United return to action on Monday when they face David Moyes’ Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. The game kicks off at 8pm.
