Jhon Durán’s loan arrival at Benfica looks set to shake up the attacking hierarchy, with Vangelis Pavlidis his main rival for a single striker role under Marco Silva. According to Glorioso 1904, that leaves Franjo Ivanovic closest to the exit at the Luz.
Durán, a Colombia international, adds competition, while the club also intend to integrate Anísio Cabral gradually into the first team. Those options further restrict Ivanovic’s opportunities.
The 22-year-old Croatian arrived last season for about €22.8 million and never truly established himself. He featured infrequently under Bruno Lage then José Mourinho, and pre-season has confirmed he remains behind in the pecking order.
Rui Costa is working on a solution, either a loan to secure more game time or a permanent transfer. Ivanovic is likely to leave during the summer window.
Given Durán’s arrival and the intention to promote Cabral, all indications are that Ivanovic is unlikely to figure in Marco Silva’s plans for 2026/27.
