João Veloso ‘to renew’ with Benfica to 2030 before Moreirense loan under Vasco Botelho da Costa | OneFootball

João Veloso will join Moreirense on a season-long loan, a deal agreed, with the team coached by Vasco Botelho da Costa.

O Jogo reports that the 21-year-old will renew his Benfica contract before moving, adding two years to a deal that currently runs to 2028, taking it to June 2030. The agreement could be announced in the coming hours.

The process, led by Benfica general director Mário Branco, is ready to be sealed, which cleared the way for the loan. Benfica believe Moreirense can help Veloso develop, gain experience and improve his skills.

Veloso joined the Benfica Campus aged 13 from Albufeira’s training centre. He made his senior debut late in 2024/25, playing 28 minutes in the Taça de Portugal semi-final against Tirsense, then 34 minutes at the Club World Cup against Chelsea.

Last season Bruno Lage gave him one minute in the Supertaça against Sporting. José Mourinho then handed him three minutes across three matches, against Gil Vicente, Chaves and Vitória de Guimarães.
