Brugge for their part are steely negotiators and it remains to be seen whether this deal gets over the line in the upcoming days and weeks.
In the meantime the Belgian giants are back to work following their winter break - jetting out to Marbella for a warm weather training camp.
And there is no indication that any deal between Brugge and Liverpool over Ordonez is imminent - considering the stopper is on board for the training camp.
“After a well-deserved break, the Blauw-Zwart players will travel to Marbella, Spain, for a winter training camp on Saturday, January 3rd,” a report reads on the club website.
“They will prepare for the second half of the season there until Friday, January 9th.”
Ordonez IS listed among the travelling party - meaning he is not yet close to inking a deal with the Premier League champions.
Liverpool’s needs for centre-back reinforcements are growing - with Ibrahima Konate’s immediate future in doubt and Giovanni Leoni injured.
We could see an outbound deal concluded for Joe Gomez meanwhile and the club are still counting the cost of missing out on Marc Guehi on transfer deadline day.
Now we wait and see whether those needs are going to be addressed in January with the signing of Joel Ordonez.
