Jorginho says Chappell Roan contacted his family and calls incident a misunderstanding | OneFootball

Jorginho has moved to calm a row with singer Chappell Roan, calling an incident involving his 11-year-old daughter at a São Paulo hotel a misunderstanding.

According to Globo.com, the Flamengo midfielder said fresh information had changed his view. Roan contacted his wife, Catherine Harding, and the family concluded the artist was unaware and had not instructed anyone to approach them.

After messages from Jorginho, Roan and Harding, German security professional Pascal Duvier posted that he had approached their daughter while working for another artist. He cited a heightened security risk at the hotel, and denied acting aggressively or making the child cry.

Jorginho said he still does not know why they were approached and does not believe a child at breakfast could pose any security threat. He added it was clear Duvier was not acting for Roan, and that he was pleased to clarify the situation fairly and accurately.

The dispute became public on 21 March after Jorginho wrote about it on Instagram, prompting many Flamengo fans to flood Roan’s account with critical comments. She headlined the second day of Lollapalooza Brasil.

At the time, Jorginho alleged a member of the singer’s security team confronted his wife and daughter during breakfast in an extremely aggressive manner, warning them not to disrespect or harass others. He said his daughter, a fan of Roan, had only looked over as the singer passed their table to confirm it was her.
