Robert Lewandowski is entering a crucial phase of his Barcelona career, but instead of uncertainty, there is growing clarity around one key detail that he wants to stay.

Reports coming from Poland are affirming that the veteran striker is prioritising continuity at Barcelona, even if it means accepting a reduced salary to extend his time at the club.

Lewandowski’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, and so far, there has been no official agreement over a renewal.

However, the expectation within the club is that a resolution is not far away.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has already hinted that the situation could be resolved in the coming months, with July seen as a potential turning point.

As such, discussions are leaning towards a short-term extension and the most likely scenario is a one-year renewal that would keep Lewandowski at the club until 2027.

Lewandowski pushing for stability

From Lewandowski’s perspective, the priority is clear. In fact, journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk, who is closely connected to the player’s circle, has indicated that the striker is fully committed to staying in Barcelona

“This decision will be made shortly. I think his future will be clarified and finalised in April. In my opinion, there will be a one-year contract extension.

“First of all, because Robert wants it, and we assume that the other party – Joan Laporta and Deco – also want it,” he said as per SPORT.

Włodarczyk also highlighted that this decision goes beyond footballing considerations.

He explained, “The Lewandowskis feel very at home in Spain. There are important personal matters at play, and money probably isn’t a key factor here.

“Lewandowski is definitely closer to staying at Barcelona these days.”

Expanding on that idea, he added, “There’s something more important that fans probably forget or don’t prioritise.

“There’s life itself, the importance of family, and his children starting school in Barcelona

“Now, would he leave for a year with his whole family, for a change of scenery, for, I don’t know, two, three, five million euros?

“Saudi Arabia is a very, very hot topic these days. Moving abroad would involve incredible logistics,” he concluded.
