Kai Havertz: Germany head into World Cup with “a lot of confidence” after USA win | OneFootball

After linking up late with the German World Cup squad following his participation in the Champions League final with Arsenal, Kai Havertz was handed a starting role as Julian Nagelsmann’s side faced the United States in a friendly on Saturday.

Havertz ended up playing a key role, scoring a goal before providing the assist for Leroy Sané's winner, and expressed his satisfaction after the match.

“I think we played a good game overall and that we were better in the second half,” Havertz told RTL after the game.

Even if it wasn’t a perfect performance, Havertz believes extending their winning streak gives Germany a good feeling heading into the World Cup.

“With the ninth win in a row, we’re now going into the first group game with a lot of confidence,” he said.

“Of course, there were phases where we lost a bit of control, but overall we are in good shape and can look forward positively.”

Germany face Curaçao in their World Cup opener next Sunday.
