Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has dropped what appears to be a cryptic message over the club’s summer transfer business.
It is set to be a hugely busy summer of transfer activity for all those concerned within the Manchester City offices, as club officials focus on both arrivals and departures from Pep Guardiola‘s first-team squad.
In the way of incoming, there is likely to be additions made in both full-back roles as well as several new faces brought in to strengthen the midfield ranks following a difficult campaign for the club across competitions.
As for outgoings, City are likely to keep the door open for the majority of stars, standing firm on their belief of not getting in the way of players and potential new opportunities, with Jack Grealish, John Stones, and Nathan Ake among those facing uncertainty.
Ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has insisted that the side are hoping to have new names in place to begin work under Pep Guardiola over in the United States at the tournament.
And speaking to Manchester City’s in-house media team as part of a quick-fire questions feature on their social media channels, Al Mubarak was asked which player he is most excited about seeing in action next season.
“Well,” Al Mubarak responded before pausing momentarily. “Get ready. You’ll see,” he added.
Many believe this is an immediate hint towards possible arrivals into the Manchester City squad this summer, with the current line of reporting being that deals for AC Milan’s Tijjani Reijnders and Lyon’s Rayan Cherki are advancing in the direction of completion.
Of course, there is also every possibility that Khaldoon Al Mubarak may have been referring to some of City’s existing stars who perhaps did not perform to the standards they have become known for as an Etihad Stadium athlete.
Among those names would likely include Oscar Bobb and Rodri off the back of severely hampered routines as a direct result of serious injuries, as well as Phil Foden – who has struggled physically and mentally by his own admission over the last year.
Pep Guardiola and Manchester City are expected to return from various breaks and international commitments in two weeks before jetting out to the US for the group stage of the FIFA Club World Cup with three fixtures lined up against Juventus, Al Ain, and Wydad AC.
