Kompany criticises Bayern youngster Tom Bischof over tactical remarks | OneFootball

Vincent Kompany publicly rejected Tom Bischof’s take on Bayern’s recent tactical problems, saying the youngster had misidentified the issue. According to BuLi News, the head coach intends to address the interview comments directly with the 20-year-old.

Bayern did manage a clean sheet on Saturday in a narrow win over Wolfsburg, although multiple first-half saves from Jonas Urbig were required.

Bischof, a Germany under-21 international, had been unusually candid. After a spell out injured, he said watching from the stands clarified that the basics had slipped, noting that the counter-press immediately after turnovers had been missing lately.

Asked about that assessment, Kompany said he did not agree. He argued that relentless counter-pressing is impossible if the ball is being given away too quickly, adding that the problem lies elsewhere rather than in the intent to press.

Kompany added that he would speak with Bischof about the remarks and expressed confidence the youngster will come to the same conclusion in a few years.
