Lazio 'to target' Milan midfielder Loftus-Cheek as Guendouzi exit nears | OneFootball

Lazio have identified Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a midfield option with Matteo Guendouzi edging towards a January exit. TMW reports that Maurizio Sarri is pushing to step up interest in the Milan player.

Guendouzi’s move is advancing, with the player and Lazio understood to have an agreement in principle with Fenerbahce.

Sarri wants a replacement who brings physicality, ball-carrying and top-level experience, qualities he believes Loftus-Cheek can supply.

The former Chelsea midfielder is valued for his versatility and his familiarity with Serie A after his time in Italy.

Talks between Lazio and Milan are believed to be ongoing, though the Rossoneri are reluctant to lose him mid-season. As it stands, only a significant offer would prompt a sale.

Lazio’s position has improved financially after the recent sale of Valentín Castellanos, with the expected Guendouzi deal set to create further room to manoeuvre.

For now, the club are testing the waters, but Loftus-Cheek is viewed as a serious option as Sarri reshapes his midfield for the second half of the season.
