Leeds United have verbally agreed a deal to sell centre-back Pascal Struijk to Brighton, while they move closer to their first signing of the summer.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Brighton have a deal in principle for the 26-year-old, the fee undisclosed but understood to be about £20m. His United contract expires next year, and it is believed he was offered new terms but wanted a fresh challenge, with Leeds otherwise risking a free exit next summer.

Struijk has made 196 appearances since arriving from Ajax in January 2018, initially featuring for Leeds’ under-21s.

Brighton sold Jan Paul Van Hecke to Tottenham for £52m earlier this month, and experienced defender Adam Webster is leaving as his contract expires. They will play in Europe next season after an eighth-placed finish secured a Europa Conference League berth. Georginio Rutter also joined Brighton from Leeds in August 2024.

Leeds reached an agreement last week to sign Fulham attacker Harry Wilson as a free agent following the expiry of his Cottagers deal this summer. The move remains on track, subject to a medical and paperwork.

Leeds are also pursuing Germany international Julian Brandt, a free agent as his Borussia Dortmund contract ends, and remain in negotiations for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles. They are preparing for their second season back in the Premier League.
