Leeds United ‘willing to sell’ Ao Tanaka for £10m | OneFootball

Fussball Transfers reports that Leeds United are willing to sell Ao Tanaka for £10m as the summer window nears, even though the Japan international wants to stay in England.

Interest from Germany has been reported, including Hannover, Union Berlin and Schalke. With Tanaka favouring England, the pool of realistic buyers may be narrower.

Tanaka’s situation contrasts with last season, when he scored five league goals in Leeds’ promotion-winning Championship campaign. He was voted Players’ Player of the Year and named in the Team of the Season.

In the Premier League this season he has made 21 appearances, starting seven, for 763 minutes. That works out at just over 36 minutes per outing.

Across all competitions he has featured 25 times, delivering four goals and one assist in a little over 1,000 minutes. He scored against Chelsea in a 3-1 win and Liverpool in a 3-3 draw, and also netted in the FA Cup against Derby.

Leeds’ stance on a sale now frames the summer discussion. Schalke, in particular, may struggle if Tanaka holds firm on staying in England.
