Leeds United visit West Ham on the final day with little at stake, while their London Stadium hosts still have survival on the line. Supporters can simply enjoy the end of their first year back in the top flight.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, recent finales have ranged from relegation pain to an added-time title clincher.
2015/16: Preston 1-1 Leeds, Jordan Hugill cancelled out Chris Wood’s penalty late on. It proved Steve Evans’ final game before Massimo Cellino sacked him later that month.
2016/17: Wigan 1-1 Leeds, a point that left them seventh and five points off the play-offs. After full-time, Garry Monk claimed Charlie Taylor refused to play, the defender was fined and joined Burnley two months later.
2017/18: Leeds 2-0 QPR, Kemar Roofe and Kalvin Phillips sealed a final-day win for 13th. It was Paul Heckingbottom’s last game before a major change followed that summer.
2018/19: Ipswich 3-2 Leeds, defeat to the bottom side, who finished with 10 men, made it four without a win in Marcelo Bielsa’s first year. They then lost a dramatic play-off semi-final to Derby County.
2019/20: Leeds 4-0 Charlton, the title was already sealed before a thumping at an empty Elland Road due to Covid. Ben White netted a superb volley and celebrations followed.
2020/21: Leeds 3-1 West Brom, an emotional end to a ninth-placed Premier League return with 8,000 fans back inside Elland Road for the first time all season. Farewells followed for Gaetano Berardi, Gianni Alioski and Pablo Hernandez.
