Leicester City have frozen season-ticket prices at last term’s Premier League level, a move that could leave supporters paying Premier League rates for League One football if relegation follows.

According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, it is the 10th time in 12 seasons prices have been held, and the fee will be unchanged regardless of division. Renewals open on Tuesday 31 March, with the club’s status to be settled over the final seven matches.

The cheapest ticket is £404, not the costliest in League One. Across the current 24 clubs, using either next season’s prices or this term where 26-27 details are not yet public, City’s entry point would rank sixth-highest. Stockport County’s lowest-priced seat this season was £463, the most expensive in the division, while Luton, Plymouth, Rotherham and Wimbledon are also above City’s level.

City still sit above the League One average of £355, with Doncaster offering the cheapest adult option at £244.

Back-to-back relegations may dampen demand regardless of cost. Renewals for the current campaign were just under 90 per cent, the lowest in the four years for which the club have published figures.

Attendances have edged down, with several recent crowds below 30,000 after more than a decade consistently above that level. The figures reflect tickets sold rather than turnstile counts, and many season-ticket holders have been staying away.

City’s last League One season drew an average gate of 20,253, only 3,000 down on the previous year in the Championship.
