Brighton accepted a Nottingham Forest bid for Lewis Dunk before the window closed, but the defender turned down the move, Daily Mail claims.
The offer was described as financially attractive and would have run to 2028, and Dunk was allowed to speak to Forest but chose not to go back on his commitment to Albion, according to The Argus.
Forest have monitored Dunk for some time and revived interest last month as they sought to bolster Sean Dyche’s squad. An initial enquiry was reportedly rebuffed by Brighton.
Before the deadline, Forest signed three players, striker Lorenzo Lucca, goalkeeper Stefan Ortega and left-back Luca Netz.
A midfielder and another striker were also pursued but deals did not materialise. Dyche said it was a difficult market, adding after deadline day that the squad balance was acceptable and that completing transfers is not easy.
Forest were linked with Dunk last summer. They visit Brighton on Sunday, March 1.
