Alexander Isak is fit to make his Liverpool return against Manchester City in the FA Cup, but Arne Slot remains unclear if the striker will play.

The £125million striker has been sidelined since December with a broken leg, but is back in training after almost four months out and now ready to return to match action.

It leaves head coach Slot with a decision to make, with Isak not yet ready to start games but hoping to help out his team against a huge rival for the FA Cup.

"It is too soon to expect him in the starting line-up, first time training yesterday after 100 days out, [so] it will take a bit of time to give him a lot of minutes," Slot said on Isak.

"We will make sure we do the right thing to build him up, but it is a good thing to have him on the training ground, even better to get him on the pitch."

Asked if Isak could come on for a late cameo in the FA Cup quarter-final against City, Slot replied: "It's a difficult one. We don't play a 'normal' game [as it] could go to extra time, which makes it difficult if he can only play 10 minutes.

"We can take him off again, of course, if we have the players. Maybe he gets a few minutes [against City], but let's wait and see today, how he feels. Two sessions, 100 days out, no sense to start him.

"I see a player much stronger, in a better place, but 100 days off the intensity of the Premier League and Champions League is difficult.

"I said many times, when he's had a proper pre-season, we can expect more for him but what we have now is already a big step forward."
