Liverpool are expected to bid for one of Brazil's biggest talents as early as next week. It should be accepted.

Liverpool's January transfer plans are well underway, even if the injury to Alexander Isak may have disrupted them. The Reds need to reassess their squad, certainly, after how this campaign has begun.

An enormous summer spend hasn't brought results. The performances simply haven't been good enough and there's a sense that the rebuild has got to continue if Liverpool are to reach their potential.

That means taking advantage of the January window and all signs point to the club doing that. Liverpool don't have the centre-back options they'd like after failing to sign Marc Guehi, they never replaced Luis Diaz on the wing, and now they're a striker short.

Something needs to happen, then. Though, spending on a Brazilian teenager probably isn't how people expected things to go.

Liverpool expected to bid for Gabriel Mec

Brazilian journalist Fábio Vargas reports that Liverpool are expected to bid for Gabriel Mec, probably sometime next week. They'll present Gremio a bid of around €15m and it will likely be accepted.

Or at least, it's expected to be negotiated before being accepted. Gremio won't reject Liverpool's proposal and will instead try to talk through a deal that suits all parties.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Mec for some time now. It's consistently been reported to have escalated through various stages and now it appears they're finally ready to move.
