Liverpool ready for GOOD news after double injury blow

Liverpool are reportedly ready for some good news after their latest injury concern. Fingers crossed on this one.

Liverpool suffered a 1-0 defeat in Turkey on Tuesday evening as Galatasaray saw them off. It was a difficult game and the latest where the Reds just didn't look quite right.

Time will almost certainly fix that, though. Liverpool have a lot of new signings this season - and a lot of players left - creating a need for things to gel together again.

Though, that's made more difficult when injuries occur. The squad hasn't been that unfortunate with problems so far this season but Tuesday did bring a double blow.

Alisson Becker went down with an issue after a seemingly innocuous moment. That's always a worry, of course, and it remains to be seen how long he'll be out for.

Then Hugo Ekitike had to leave the fray with a muscle issue. That one, again, needs more time before we know the full extent of it.

Liverpool hopeful over injury

The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool are still 'hopeful' over Ekitike's injury. There's a feeling that he may just have had bad cramp, rather than an actual injury issue.

We'll have to wait and see if that's true and whether Ekitike is fit to face Chelsea at the weekend. Liverpool could certainly do with him.

Alexander Isak isn't quite ready to play a game like that for 90 minutes and they're the only two out-and-out strikers at the club. Even Jayden Danns, a potential squad option, now has an injury.

Ekitike is also the summer signing who's gelled the fastest. Liverpool have been quite reliant on him, in fact, and would be again as they travel to Chelsea.

Fingers crossed, then, that Liverpool are right to be hopeful over this problem. The Reds need to bounce back after a couple of disappointing defeats and having Ekitike available gives them their best chance of doing that.
