Liverpool are reportedly gearing up for a new transfer target. Yan Diomande may be off the menu.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Yan Diomande consistently this season. The Ivorian has been sensational since arriving at RB Leipzig, after all, and that has all of Europe looking at him.

The Reds also happen to need a new winger. Not only have they had very little production from out wide this season but they’re also losing Mohamed Salah in the summer.

Diomande, then, fits the bill about as well as anyone possibly could. He’s a rapid, productive winger with an enormous future ahead of him.

The problem is that Leipzig don’t want to sell. They also don't have to sell. And if they did sell, teams like Paris Saint-Germain are willing to go all-in on him.

Football Insider claims that the situation has Liverpool considering other players. One of them is Diomande’s teammate at Leipzig, Antonio Nusa.

Now, Nusa does not have the same kind of reputation that Diomande does. He’d be a much bigger gamble in terms of what he could potentially bring, given his numbers are nowhere near the Ivorian’s.

Four goals and three assists isn’t exactly elite Bundesliga production. It’s also largely what Nusa offered last season, too (three and three).

The entire move would be on the basis that Nusa explodes in a different environment, putting up numbers that he’s failed to thus far. But it does feel like a long-shot.

One to look out for, then, but we’re not sure it’ll happen.
