A blockbuster League Phase clash between two European giants

Liverpool welcome a club great back to Anfield this weekend as Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid come to town for a blockbuster Champions League showdown.

While the visit of the Spanish giants can never be considered ideal, the Reds will have hoped to be in far better shape for the toughest of European tests.

A 2-0 victory over inconsistent Aston Villa ended a four-game losing streak in the Premier League, and has somewhat quietened the noise around head coach Arne Slot.

But Real Madrid have won 13 of 14 games this season, including all three in the Champions League so far, and head to England confident of taking all three points.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Liverpool vs Real Madrid is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

The match will take place at Anfield.

Liverpool vs Real Madrid team news

Liverpool have Ryan Gravenberch to call upon again in a huge boost, but Alexander Isak and Curtis Jones remain sidelined.

Florian Wirtz was benched for the win over Aston Villa - and did little to prove he earns a start in his cameo at the weekend - so will be sweating over his position. Milos Kerkez, another summer signing struggling this season, is also not expected to regain his spot.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is now in contention to face his former club, having returned to the matchday squad earlier than anticipated from a hamstring injury, but is yet to play since his recovery. Elsewhere, the front four of Arda Guler, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe are well established at this stage.

Liverpool vs Real Madrid prediction

A match under the lights for the visit of Real Madrid means Anfield will be rocking, and Liverpool will need all the help they can get.

Xabi Alonso may have had to deal with a few headlines regarding behind-the-scenes problems, but it has been almost perfect on the pitch with his team purring to his beat. Expect another tough night for the Reds against the Whites.

Real Madrid to win, 3-1.
