According to PaponaColina, Serie B-winning centre-back Maicon stirred Coritiba supporters by posting a message to Vasco striker Pablo Vegetti after the Argentine’s winner against Fluminense.
Coritiba are searching for a number nine for 2026, and on social media Vegetti has become a focal point. After he struck the decisive goal in the 2-1 first leg of the Copa do Brasil semi-final, Maicon shared the image and wrote, “Vem, matador”.
Vegetti is under contract at Vasco until December 2026, yet the defender’s post drew a strong reaction among Coritiba fans. The pair were team-mates in Rio in 2023 and 2024 and remain close.
Maicon spent 2025 on loan at Coritiba and has an agreement lined up to stay in 2026, with his Vasco deal ending on 31 December. In November, after Coritiba clinched promotion to the 2026 Serie A, Vegetti sent warm congratulations on social media.
Despite often featuring among the substitutes at Vasco, Vegetti is in prolific form, leading Brazilian football this season with 27 goals. His salary is among the highest in the squad, and with the club seeking to trim its wage bill, that also complicates any 2026 move to Coritiba.
Vasco return on Sunday at 20:30 at the Maracanã for the decisive second leg against Fluminense. With the draw advantage, Fernando Diniz’s team are chasing a place in the final on 17 and 21 December against the winner of Corinthians v Cruzeiro.
