A huge update has emerged in David Storch's takeover bid of Sheffield Wednesday, which is now set to be imminently completed and confirmed

It has been a tumultuous campaign in the Championship for Sheffield Wednesday, although takeover talk has offered light at the end of the tunnel in recent months and Hillsborough will now be rocked by a huge emerging update.

Left in administration since October following the much-welcomed departure of ex-chairman Dejphon Chansiri, Wednesday have been on the search for fresh ownership and Arise Capital Partners' proposed takeover has taken considerable strides of late.

Led by David Storch, who himself has already visited the Steel City on more than one occasion in his efforts to purchase the club, there are significant plans in place for the Owls as they head into League One with all sights set on a rebuilding process after years of mismanagement and crises under the previous ownership.

In order to avoid further delays of falling into the jurisdiction of the Independent Football Regulator's inception next week, Arise have been desperate to complete a deal as soon as possible and had set a deadline of May 1, after which Wednesday will finish their Championship campaign at home to West Bromwich Albion infront of a sold-out Hillsborough.

Celebrations, then, will be firmly underway among the Owls faithful following a huge update regarding Storch's takeover efforts.

That deadline is now set to be met in what will represent a huge boost to Wednesday ahead of the season's closure, with The Star reporting on Friday morning that the takeover is poised for completion today.

Indeed, numerous elements of the deal are already described as "basically done". As per the report, an official announcement is already being prepared for release in the hours to come, leaving Wednesdayites to eagerly await confirmation later in the day.

Exactly how this outcome was achieved will leave fans impressed, too, with lawyers working on behalf of the deal having reportedly operated throughout the night in an effort to ensure completion by the set deadline.

The deal is, it must be noted, not fully completed yet, although it appears to be very much a case of simply sorting out the finer details before pen is put to paper and Arise is officially elected at the helm. It's added in the report that extensive paperwork remains to be signed off ahead of completion, which is expected to be sealed at some stage this afternoon before being followed up by an official club announcement.

Storch has already proved himself to be a popular figure among Wednesday supporters, who have taken to the businessman's keen engagement, commitment and outspoken desire to be the man to oversee a new era for the League One-bound outfit following such struggles in recent times.

He's expected to be at Hillsborough today in order to rubber-stamp the deal before attending tomorrow's final fixture against the Baggies, in which he - alongside the rest of the consortium - will be warmly-welcomed by swathes of blue-and-white clad supporters finally looking forward to an exciting new chapter in the club's history.

This development simply further builds up the anticipation for the final-day visit of West Brom, which, as aforementioned, will be a sell-out fixture, meaning it will return the highest attendance of any match in the Championship this season.

Wednesday have been through the mill quite like no other this term and, even though they are set to have a 15-point deduction in the third-tier to wrangle with and overcome owing to the failure to pay 25p in the pound to remaining creditors - that being Chansiri - fans have something to cheer about and celebrate once more as a reward for their perseverance.

Many Wednedayites will look forward to the opportunity to see Storch and co in the flesh for the first time when the Baggies roll into the Steel City, and regardless of the outcome and the nightmareish season which has played out for the club, it's going to be a cause for celebration as the Owls move towards a fresh future.
