Makengo strikes early as Lorient climb to ninth | OneFootball

Lorient beat Rennes 2-0 at Roazhon Park on Saturday to climb from 12th to ninth in Ligue 1.

In the third minute, Jean-Victor Makengo drilled a left-footer from outside the box after Montassar Talbi's pass found him in space.

Alidu Seidu hit the left post (17.), and Yvon Mvogo made five saves as Rennes pressed for a leveller.

After the restart, substitute Pablo Pagis, introduced (63.), finished from close range on a fast break to seal the points (77.).

Elías Legendre shot wide in the second minute of second half stoppage time, and moments later Mousa Al-Taamari also missed the target.

Rennes had 68.7% possession and 22 attempts. Lorient produced six efforts, four on target, and made 58 clearances.

Rennes remain sixth with 31 points. Next, Rennes visit Monaco. Lorient host Nantes next.
