Delivering consistently impressive performances for his club, RC Lens, Malang Sarr, the Senegalese-born defender, has established himself as one of the standout figures in Ligue 1.
The Nice native leads the pack in the ranking of players with the most interceptions in France's top flight, boasting an impressive tally of 57 interceptions.
The former Chelsea defender is ahead of his teammate Matthieu Udol (40 interceptions), as well as Hugo Magnetti, the Stade Brestois midfielder.
Across 26 appearances in all competitions this season, Malang Sarr has yet to score a goal, registering just a single assist.
A former French youth international, the OGC academy product remains eligible to don the Lions' jersey.
Last September, he expressed great enthusiasm about the prospect of representing Senegal on the international stage. “I said a few months ago that it was a goal of mine, and that's still the case. I also said that it would come down to my performances. I need to keep going like this, and if the call-up comes, it will be a great joy for me,” he told the French daily, L’Equipe.
