Mamadou Kane led Mali to the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations title in 2019

Mamadou Kane returns to lead Mali U-20 national team
The Malian Football Federation has officially handed the reins of the U-20 national team back to Mamadou Kane. The 55-year-old coach makes a powerful return to the helm of Mali’s youth squad.
Mali is determined to revive the dynamism of its U-20 side. To achieve this, the federation has chosen Mamadou Kane, the mastermind behind the historic 2019 triumph. Since that title, Mali’s youngsters have not managed to reach the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations finals again.
During the 2024-2025 season, Mamadou Kane achieved a domestic double by clinching both the league and the cup with Stade Malien. He was also named Coach of the Season at the time.
The Malian Football Federation and Mamadou Kane now set their sights on the qualifying tournament for the next U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for October 6 to 25, 2026, in Bamako.
