Oscar Bobb is closing in on a permanent transfer to Fulham from Manchester City this month, as per several reports.

The 22-year-old has failed to cut it in the Manchester City first-team ranks this season owing to recurring fitness issues and his boyhood club are willing to sanction a permanent sale in what remains of the January transfer window.

Bobb came through the Manchester City academy and burst onto the scene after scoring an injury-time winner in a monumental 3-2 away win over Newcastle in January 2024 en route to a historic fourth successive league title for Pep Guardiola’s side.

However, it has just not worked out for the the Norway international at the Etihad Stadium since and with the FIFA World Cup on the horizon, Bobb needs regular minutes at club level to revitalise his career and stake a claim to start for his country in the United States, Canada and Mexico this summer.

Borussia Dortmund were interested in a January deal for Bobb but the German outfit were put off by Manchester City’s financial expectations, though the Blues were also understood to be open to a short-term loan deal with an obligation to buy in the summer.

However, Manchester City would prefer a straight-up permanent sale and talks are progressing with Fulham for Bobb to join forces with Marco Silva in west London in the final stages of the January transfer window, as per several reports.

Sky Sports News have reported that while there is work to be done in the deal, personal terms are ready for Bobb to give a green light to as discussions continue between Fulham and Manchester City to reach an agreement.

talkSPORT have added that Fulham are preparing a formal bid for Bobb, who is valued by Manchester City at around £35 million, with the Blues ready to sanction a sale for the winger after signing Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth earlier this month.

An agreement is expected to be reached between all parties in the coming days, which will then see Bobb undergo a medical at Craven Cottage before he puts pen to paper and moves to west London from Manchester.

Manchester City are expected to insert a sell-on clause in Bobb’s Fulham contract – as has been the case with academy graduates leaving the Etihad Stadium under Guardiola over the years.

The Blues returned to winning ways at the weekend in the wake of back-to-back losses to Manchester United and Bodo/Glimt as goals from Omar Marmoush and Antoine Semenyo helped City secure a 2-0 win over Wolves at the Etihad Stadium.

City face a monumental UEFA Champions League group-stage clash with Galatasaray on Wednesday night, when Bobb is expected to be much closer to a fresh start in the English capital.
