Manchester City forward Savinho is open to joining Tottenham amid interest from north London in the Brazil international ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline.
Savinho, 21, joined City from CFG-owned club Troyes last summer as City secured a third-place Premier League finish as well as respective Round of 16 and final finishes in the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup last term.
Competing with the likes of Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish in the wide attacking areas in his debut season in England, Savinho made a fast start to life at the Etihad Stadium but remains a fairly raw player who will take time to find his feet in front of goal and adapt to Pep Guardiola’s demands.
The young Brazilian is under contract with Manchester City till the summer of 2029 as newly-appointed director of football Hugo Viana maps a significant overhaul of Guardiola’s first-team squad in the ongoing transfer window.
Viana has already orchestrated the arrival(s) of Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders, Marcus Bettinelli, Rayan Cherki, Sverre Nypan and James Trafford so far this summer, with all of Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker and Scott Carson shown the door.
City secured a 3-0 win over Palermo in a pre-season friendly at the weekend ahead of a tricky test away at Wolves in their opening Premier League fixture of the 2025-26 campaign next week, with Reijnders scoring twice in Italy on Saturday evening.
It remains to be seen how Guardiola’s selection could look like against Wolves, with Manchester City coming up against each of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United in their opening five league games.
Omar Marmoush bolstered City’s attacking prospects in the January transfer window and following the arrival of Cherki from Lyon this summer, Manchester City fans can expect a new-look frontline as Guardiola aims to win a fifth league title in six years.
As per transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are in direct club-to-club talks with Manchester City over a potential transfer for Savinho, who is open to the move down south to London as the two sides negotiate over a fee.
It remains unclear as to what sort of fee Manchester City will be looking for the 21-year-old attacker, who has a long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium and has plenty of room to improve should he stay put and progress under Guardiola.
However, City are likely to allow a move to occur should for the right fee, with the onus now on Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to try and engineer an agreement between the two clubs, who have often come toe to toe in the transfer market, resulting in long-drawn transfer sagas.
It will be interesting to see if Guardiola picks Savinho for his matchday squad against Wolves or whether the Manchester City manager deems fit to leave the Brazilian out of the travelling squad amid doubts over his future at the club.
