Those in recruitment and transfer positions at the Etihad Stadium are certainly not looking worried over Erling Haaland’s future amid links to La Liga.
Within Manchester City, there remains a strong sense of calm around the Norwegian striker’s long-term position at the club, despite the near-constant speculation that surrounds one of world football’s most prolific forwards.
Haaland himself has spoken openly about committing his future to City after extensive discussions with club figures, stressing his belief in the long-term plan rather than short-term cycles. With Guardiola contracted until the summer of 2027, officials see continuity at the top as another factor helping to stabilise Haaland’s outlook amid external noise.
Internally, City see no indication that Erling Haaland is preparing for a decisive move elsewhere. From a strategic perspective, the club’s recruitment model also factors into the equation. While the club constantly assesses future options across all positions, Haaland remains viewed as a cornerstone rather than a short-term asset.
Now, according to the information of TEAMtalk’s Dean Jones, Manchester City seem convinced that Erling Haaland is not in a moment when he is looking to make a switch to Real Madrid, despite persistent links to the Bernabeu.
It is believed that the Norway international striker will stick with manager Pep Guardiola into the final season of his reign at the Etihad Stadium, with the Catalan currently contracted until the summer of 2027.
It is further pointed out that Barcelona have been linked to Haaland as they remain on the hunt for a new forward and a successor to Robert Lewandowski. However, it is believed that the Camp Nou club are not in a strong enough position to lure the City forward away at this stage.
Looking ahead, much will depend on how Manchester City evolve beyond Pep Guardiola’s current deal and how some of the European giants position themselves financially over the next few years.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are expected to remain attentive, but Manchester City’s belief is that Erling Haaland’s focus remains firmly on delivering trophies in England, and perhaps breaking even more individual striking records.
For now, the message from the Etihad Stadium is that while speculation is inevitable, there is no sense of urgency or alarm. As long as Haaland continues to score at his current rate and City remain competitive at the highest level, any movement appears some distance away.
