According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United plan an intensive training camp in the Republic of Ireland ahead of hosting Leeds United at Old Trafford on Monday, April 13.
United are set to give players extra time off after the March internationals, then head to a base outside Dublin from Monday, April 6 to Thursday, April 9, with a series of intense sessions scheduled. The camp would finish four days before the match, the first of seven remaining league games.
Interim head coach Michael Carrick has a three-week gap, with all clubs inactive for two weeks during the international break and United not involved in next weekend’s FA Cup quarter-finals. Leeds, making their first FA Cup last-eight appearance in 23 years, travel to West Ham, which should help them stay sharp.
Both squads are heavily hit by call-ups, with Carrick missing 14 players and Daniel Farke 12, although Leeds’ contingent are due back sooner because of their FA Cup tie. Both sides have plenty at stake at opposite ends of the table.
A 1-1 draw at Elland Road in Leeds, with Brenden Aaronson and Matheus Cunha scoring, was followed by Ruben Amorim’s dismissal in under 24 hours. He had appeared to criticise club bosses, including sporting director and former Leeds player Jason Wilcox, in his post-match press conference.
Carrick has since steadied United, who are widely tipped for a Champions League return. Leeds, 15th with 33 points from 31 games, are four clear of West Ham in the final relegation spot and have six matches left to preserve that buffer before a final-day trip to the London Stadium.
