Manchester United are in desperate need of a lift as they prepare to face Ipswich at Old Trafford on Wednesday night. A late comeback to salvage a point against Everton over the weekend did little to improve the mood around Ruben Amorim’s side, who sit 15th in the Premier League table with just two wins from their last ten matches.
With injuries mounting, Amorim has tough decisions to make regarding his starting XI. Alejandro Garnacho was left on the bench at Goodison Park as Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund led the attack, but one of them may have to make way if the Argentine winger is given a starting role.

Teenager Chido Obi-Martin was handed minutes off the bench at Everton, but despite his promise, it remains unlikely that Amorim will take the gamble of giving the 17-year-old his first senior start.
United’s injury list in midfield is growing at the worst possible time. Kobbie Mainoo faces a spell on the sidelines, while Mason Mount and Toby Collyer remain unavailable. “Casemiro has not impressed in two recent performances, so Christian Eriksen could get the chance to partner Manuel Ugarte in midfield.”
Eriksen’s experience and technical ability could prove vital, especially with United struggling for control in the middle of the park in recent weeks.
Lisandro Martinez’s absence has forced Amorim to experiment with his backline, favouring a defensive trio of Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt. Leny Yoro remains an option if changes are required.
Meanwhile, Amad Diallo is expected to miss the rest of the season, while Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans are among United’s other long-term absentees.
