“We are delighted to have secured the services of Manuela Zinsberger, a goalkeeper with international experience. With her experience at the very highest level, she will be a key pillar of our team and will play a crucial role in helping us achieve our sporting goals in the coming years,” says Managing Director Svenja Schlenker.

Manager Markus Högner emphasises: “Manu has played at the very highest level for years and is an asset in goal simply because of her quality. However, in our discussions with her, it quickly became clear just how ambitious she is and what goals she has set for herself at BVB. With Manu, we’re gaining a real boost in terms of mentality, as she will contribute so much to the team through her commitment and attitude.”

Born in Stockerau, Lower Austria, Zinsberger moved to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga at the age of 18. There she made 71 competitive appearances and won the German championship in 2015 and 2016. In 2019, she moved to Arsenal WFC. She made 143 appearances for the North London side, keeping a clean sheet in 73 of those matches. She capped her time at Arsenal by winning the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2025. The vice-captain of the Austrian national team has made 109 international appearances to date and was voted Austria’s Footballer of the Year in 2020.

Manuela Zinsberger, who is currently fighting her way back onto the pitch following a cruciate ligament tear last October, says: “The vision of achieving something great won me over straight away. I can feel the energy within the club. Every single person here is passionate about achieving the big goal of reaching the Bundesliga. I want to be part of that. I’m looking forward to being back on the pitch soon and feeling the club’s DNA.”
