Marlon returns to Grêmio base to begin rehabilitation after ankle fracture and surgery

Marlon returned to Grêmio’s training centre on Thursday to begin physiotherapy following surgery on a fractured right ankle.

According to Globo.com, he arrived as the squad reconvened after three days off. Before heading to the training ground, he had his cast removed in hospital and a protective boot fitted.

The full-back suffered the injury against Vitória on 19 March, landing on his right foot during a challenge. The incident shocked supporters inside the Arena and television viewers.

Ligament damage was involved, and he underwent surgery last Friday.

Grêmio estimate a five-month lay-off, pointing to August for his return. Behind the scenes, there is an expectation that he could be back sooner.
