Memphis remained on the bench as the Netherlands went out to Morocco on penalties in the World Cup round of 32 on Monday.
According to Globo.com, the Corinthians forward totalled 70 minutes across four matches at the tournament.
The 32-year-old arrived short of peak fitness after a right thigh injury in March, and had little game time for Corinthians beforehand. He therefore started among the substitutes in all three group fixtures and again against Morocco.
His cameos amounted to 27 minutes against Japan, 24 against Sweden and 19 against Tunisia. Netherlands’ record scorer did not find the net and recorded one assist.
Memphis will take a few days off before reporting back to CT Joaquim Grava. Corinthians plan to speak with him in the coming hours to set a return date, and his early return could also help advance contract talks. With his deal due to expire on 31 July, discussions continued during his time with the national team and remain optimistic about an agreement, with only final details to settle.
