Michael Olise has been named the UNFP best French player abroad, the first such accolade of his career.

According to L'Équipe, the 24-year-old arrived at the Palais Brongniart before the PSG delegation, sparking similar hysteria to the European champions on the red carpet. Two hours later, he took to the stage to collect the prize.

The winger has delivered 22 goals and 26 assists in 50 matches for Bayern Munich this season.

True to his reserved manner, he spoke only briefly and did not attend the post-ceremony press conference. He described the honour as significant, thanked his Bayern team-mates and staff, said representing France brings immense pride and that he will give everything to make the country proud.

Since 2017, winners of this UNFP prize have been N'Golo Kanté, Karim Benzema, Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappé.

The former Crystal Palace winger prevailed over fellow France internationals Mbappé of Real Madrid, William Saliba of Arsenal, Rayan Cherki of Manchester City and Hugo Ekitike of Liverpool.
