Monaco look to clear licence hurdle to appoint Filipe Luís | OneFootball

According to Coluna Do Fla, Filipe Luís is close to being confirmed by Monaco, with minor details expected to be resolved by Saturday, the sixth. The club are also planning a financial move to push the deal towards signature.

He does not yet hold a UEFA Pro Licence, so Monaco would need to pay 25,000 euros, around R$ 147,000, per match for him to be on the touchline. The club are seeking recognition in France of his CBF Pro Licence, which would remove that cost.

This documentation issue has already halted other options in Europe. Talks with Bayer Leverkusen of Germany had advanced, but the lack of a licence stalled progress.

An announcement is regarded as a matter of time. Monaco dismissed Belgian coach Sébastien Pocognoli on Monday, the first, and Filipe Luís would arrive aiming to take the club into the UEFA Champions League and, perhaps, go head to head with PSG, the current European champions.

Appointed Flamengo head coach at the end of 2024, he won the Copa do Brasil. The following year he collected the Carioca, Supercopa, Brasileirão, Libertadores, Dérbi das Américas and Copa Challenger. After an inconsistent 2026, he was dismissed in March.
