Morocco have been declared winners of the last Africa Cup of Nations after Senegal were ruled to have forfeited the final, the Confederation of African Football said in a statement on Tuesday.

Under Article 84 of the competition regulations, the 2025 final has been recorded as 3-0 in favour of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

The final was played on 18 January. Senegal left the field in protest at the referee awarding Morocco a penalty, then returned and won 1-0 on the pitch.

The forfeit overturns that result. Senegal are now deemed to have lost the final and are no longer African champions.

The decision affects the Senegal squad, including the OL defender, Moussa Niakhaté.
