Napoli are considering taking action against Schalke after the late collapse of Jesper Lindstrom’s proposed move.
The club said in a statement that it reserves the right to seek action with the relevant authorities to protect its rights. It rejected any suggestion of financial changes and detailed a 13:00 request from Schalke to amend certain clauses, citing weekend injuries to two players and a shift in market strategy. Napoli said it accepted those adjustments, but at 17:32 the German club confirmed it was no longer interested due to altered squad priorities.
Napoli had believed a one-year loan with a five million euros option to buy was in place for the Dane, 26, before the agreement fell through on Monday.
The timeline set out by the Italians highlighted Schalke’s late change of stance, which they argued underlined the reasons the deal failed to conclude.
Lindstrom has recently been on loan at Everton, then Wolfsburg, and remains with Napoli for now.
