New Ticketing Survey Released To LFC Fans – Will It Actually Change Anything For The Better?

In an effort to help improve ticketing, Liverpool FC has created a survey that has been sent to half a million fans to gauge their thoughts and opinions about how the current system can be improved.
This is designed to ensure that fans have a genuine say on how the future ticketing policy can be improved and even streamlined.
There has been considerable frustration over the last few years from fans about ticket misuse.
This survey has been released so the club can find out how fans feel about the biggest challenges they face currently.
It is understood that the club is considering a number of options here. This will be in addition to the changes already brought in this season.
One of them is a multi-layer loyalty system based on credits that can be relevant spanning multiple seasons, with these only applicable for tickets bought via official club channels.
In addition, ways are being explored to protect fans who do not meet the minimum requirements for tickets.
It could mean that there is a dilution in the number of guaranteed games for fans with over 13 credits. The idea being that there is a ringfenced pot of tickets for those not in the Auto Cup Scheme for home cup fixtures.
There is also a suggestion of a policy introduction that protects specific groups such as local juniors.
It will be interesting to see whether the results of the survey bear any weight and if so, to what extent.
What appears to be clear is that the club understands (regardless of what, if any policies are implemented), some fans may still not be agreeable.
On the surface, club chiefs appear committed to ensuring fan experience is improved and their ability to access tickets becomes more streamlined.
On the subject, Phil Dutton, vice-president of ticketing and hospitality at LFC, said: “The views and experiences of our fans will directly influence our ticketing policy for years to come.
“We understand that ticketing is an emotive subject, but by working closely with the Supporters Board and hearing from our fan base, we can ensure any changes we make are considered and focused on the needs of our supporters.
“We would like to thank the fans for their ongoing passion and support and we look forward to receiving their valuable feedback through this survey as we continue to shape the future of ticketing together.”
Some fans may see veiled implications here. While the club maintains that the survey is designed to get fan feedback, any policy changes may suggest that it is designed to attract more tourists who are happy to spend more on their match day experience such as hospitality and merchandising.
It is no secret that John Henry owns The Boston Red Sox and introducing new policies could present an opportunity to make it fairer for US fans to get tickets to Liverpool games, who may, invariably have more disposable income.
This is one possible train of thought that fans may realise.
However, nothing is concrete yet and it will be interesting to see the outcome of the survey and which policies will be implemented.
