Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has admitted that he’s open to remaining at the club but only if he receives assurances from incoming manager Xabi Alonso.

According to the Sun, Jackson has made it clear he wants to be Chelsea’s first-choice striker as he prepares to return from a loan spell at Bayern Munich.

Chelsea have announced Alonso as their new permanent manager following a nightmare campaign that ended with another disappointing 2-1 defeat against Sunderland.

That defeat means Chelsea will not play in Europe next season, which sparked unrest within the club.

Several high-profile Chelsea players are already being linked with a summer exit, with Enzo Fernandez and Joao Pedro among those attracting plenty of interest.

While Chelsea have no interest in losing their big players, they could be powerless to stop them from leaving, especially without European football to offer.

Jackson doesn’t seem to be concerned about the absence of European football.

Despite playing second fiddle to England captain Harry Kane throughout the season, Jackson bagged 11 goals and four assists in 34 games across all competitions.

He scored eight goals in 23 Bundesliga games, helping Bayern win the title.

With Bayern making it clear that they have no interest in retaining his services, the Senegal international is now expected to hold talks with Chelsea over what comes next in his career.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to hold talks with Jackson’s camp in the coming weeks.

The 24-year-old could stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place, head out on another loan move, or even consider leaving permanently if the right offer arrives.

However, his future depends more on Alonso’s plans for his attacking set-up than Jackson’s demands.

Pedro has stepped up for Chelsea, scoring 20 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions this term.
